Overview
Wireless temperature monitoring for complete compliance
|
Kelsius is a wireless service that automates the process of temperature monitoring in controlled storage and testing environments within the healthcare sector, alarming designated staff members when the temperature deviates from set parameters. The broad scope of applications includes fridges, freezers, incubators and water baths. Chief Pharmacists can easily comply with industry best practice for the safe storage of medicines and also reduce product wastage associated with fridge failures. Laboratory Managers can also comply with mandatory legislation and protect the integrity of highly valuable samples and test results. The Kelsius service consists of a wireless temperature monitoring and management system, a central data processing system and sophisticated on-line reporting software. Kelsius install small wireless sensors in all monitoring points, which connect to the Internet through a data logger via the local area network. |
The Kelsius system transmits the temperature data at regular intervals to the Kelsius data centre, where the data is processed and presented as user-friendly and flexible reports. These can be easily and securely accessed anytime, anywhere, via the Internet. All data is encrypted for complete security whilst our web-based service minimises the need for local IT support and maintenance. If a measured temperature goes outside of the set range an alert is triggered and transmitted as a text message, email or via local visual and audible alarms. All temperature data and corrective actions are archived providing a complete audit trail. Kelsius also provides portable temperature sensors which can be used for monitoring temperature-sensitive products during transit, thereby providing full traceability of the distribution chain. These sensors can also be used with our reporting software for inhouse temperature mapping to verify the uniformity of heat distribution within a defined area. This solution therefore precludes the need for an external service provider. |
BENEFITS
|
|
Kelsius presents the information online in summary form in a number of ways that can be user defined according to personal preferences or reporting needs. Across the page is a screen-shot of a tabular weekly view for one specific fridge. The information can also be presented in graphical format, such as this daily measurement of the temperature in one specific fridge. The level of detail of this information suits the reporting needs of different professionals, and online reports can be easily transferred into presentation slides or documents.
For instance the tabular summary shown states all relevant information for reliable monitoring and control.
Kelsius also allows a complete overview snapshot of the entire pool of fridges in one single table.

Healthcare - Fridge temperature monitoring
The healthcare industry relies heavily on fridge temperature monitoring, and must comply with monitoring legislation. When fridge temperatures fail, healthcare samples can be damaged or lost. A simple mistake, such as a fridge door afar when monitoring, is enough to permanently corrupt valuable samples, therefore it is essential to have fridge temperature monitoring in place.
Fridge temperature monitoring for the NHS
Sample testing in the healthcare industry needs to be treated with a great deal of care, and NHS temperature monitoring is essential to maintain the integrity of samples and give accurate results. Blood bank temperature monitoring and fridge temperature monitoring are all a part of NHS temperature monitoring, and data must be updated and recorded at all times. Professionals must be aware of any immediate deviances in the set parameters. Any small error such as a fridge door ajar when monitoring, will cause a significant drop in temperature, and must be detected at once.
Blood Bank Temperature monitoring
Blood samples must be kept at a specific temperature in order to give accurate results, and to avoid infection risks. Blood bank temperature monitoring must be implemented at all times in compliance with regulations, and failure to undertake blood bank temperature monitoring could cause serious health risks.
Co2 monitoring
Co2 monitoring systems are used on patients in the operating room and other critical care members throughout hospitals. Co2 monitoring can be responsible for people’s lives, therefore it is paramount that co2 monitoring is recorded at all times.
Fridge door ajar monitoring
It may seem an honest mistake, but a fridge door left ajar can have fatal affects on samples and healthcare products. Fridge door ajar monitoring will alert professionals immediately to the situation, and avoid the potential wastage of samples and goods. With fridge door ajar monitoring, simple errors can be avoided.
NHS temperature monitoring – the Kelsius system
At Kelsius Ltd we have developed our Kelsius wireless service for NHS temperature monitoring. Our system tracks fridge temperature monitoring, co2 monitoring, blood bank temperature monitoring and fridge door ajar monitoring, alerting staff immediately if there is any deviation via email, text message or by visual and audible alarms. The Kelsius system is closely audited so that any data, discrepancies, and temperature correction are recorded.
How the Kelsius system is installed
Our Kelsius system is installed using small wireless sensors which are fitted to the monitoring points. These sensors are then connected to the internet via the local area network, where they begin to log data. This information is transmitted at regular intervals to our Kelsius data system, and presented in the form of data reports. These reports are accessible anywhere and at anytime on the internet, although the data is encrypted for security reasons.
Wireless NHS temperature monitoring
NHS temperature monitoring must be implemented with complete accuracy, and must include co2 monitoring, blood bank temperature monitoring, fridge temperature monitoring and fridge door ajar monitoring to ensure absolute efficiency. At Kelsius our wireless system will keep you in compliance with all mandatory legislation, and ensure the safety of highly valuable samples and highly valuable patients.
